Alt Radio Top 20 Streams

Similar with iTunes rankings for alt and rock rankings for songs, it's usually dominated by nostalgia bands and very little up and coming tracks or new bands. This top 20 list actually with the most counts are band I have not heard of most where more than half the songs that were placed once were all one hit wonders. Blind Melon, Mr Brightside, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The opposite is with iTunes with all the top songs are the classics and very few new bands. Below are snippets of songs but if you're looking for new music look to Spotify playlists like Alt Now or Marrow or others. Some of them are just strictly TikTok bands but some are playable.

The songs below I liked were Landmine, So Much For Stardust, and The Death of Peace of Mind. Below are clips of the top 10 played songs on WMRQ.

Bands with the most songs or more than 4 songs were, Beastie Boys (4), DMB (4), Fall Out Boy (5), Foo Fighters (8), Green Day (10), Imagine Dragons (4), Linking Park (8), Nirvana (10),  No Doubt (4), Offspring (4), Pearl Jam (6), Red Hot Chili Peppers (10), Sublime (6), Twenty One Pilots (4), Weezer (7).

And I believe all if not most of those bands are on tour this summer for arenas and amphitheaters. JK not the Beastie Boys, Imagine Dragons, Linking Park, Nirvana (They have enough merchandise sales and collars to never tour again probably, so main stream its crazy), and No Doubt (Isn't touring but headlining Coachella, and should tour!!). They all if they want should do a festival date and one offs because of their current popularity though....

The Influencer Olympics: Coachella 2024

woman in yellow and white striped long sleeve shirt and blue denim jeans standing on sidewalk

Revolve Festival now obviously has history and is total business. They took the Influencer Olympics and built its own festival all around it. This  is an example of how far it’s come. From Fyre Festival to a polished influencer collab.

Street style of Coachella is now in and its basic, less festival style this year buy the influencers and more fast fashion everyday wear basically brand deals you see every day. They also are bringing the concert/bachelorette fashion of the pink cowgirl hats and boots. No matter the genre. Like even Bunny Concerts last week had them, before that was Beyonce, and before that it was Harry Styles....

The fashion I found was the every day festival goer who wasn't paid to be there and their fashion was more fun and creative. Mixing textures and and accessories, boho fashion still holds strong, but now mixed with western and denim. Denim on denim seemed to be huge at Coachella.

Neutrals were everywhere and less metallic than previous minus accessories, the huge belts, jncos and mini shorts/skirts are everywhere the 90's fashion. It feels like it's transitioning from the cargo//boyfriend jeans to minis and eventually the skinny jeans which I'm excited. The highwaisted feels out but that's fashion.

Less bold colors and makeup doesn't seem to be a focal point of outfits , neutral like the clothes, And like I said the influencers weren't wearing outfits, but clothes sent to them clearly by fast fashion companies...And where there are influencers there are activation stops set up everywhere...Really super cute and creative stops everywhere till you realize all those free samples and gifts are just billboards everywhere...

But yeah below is a mixture of the different popular influencers and just smaller micro ones and they had the better fashion and yeah for week 1 that's kind of my take away. It has always really trended to ward this and the Revolve fest having their own acts like TPain, the Yin Yang Twins and Shaggy were huge. They are actually getting large acts strictly for an audience of influencers. The amount of money for all this has to be huge...
