Casey Wasserman to Sell Agency
I think its great that there is a conversation being had about this all, from the business sides, to the fan discussion.
Huge in entertainment news, music specifically, Billboard has been updating on artists and their teams decisions and statements. Chappell Roan seemed to have started the ball rolling over the weekend.
Edit:..,,
Casey Wassermans plans to sell Agency amid news and plans to focus his time as president of the committee of LA28 opympics who back him fully.
THE CEO OF ONE OF DANCE MUSIC'S BIGGEST TALENT AGENCIES JUST GOT NAMED IN THE EPSTEIN FILES

Wasserman is huge in festivals in the music space. Coachella, EDC, will those festivals face backlash over the representation?
Wasserman has to get a lot of business dominating the lineups not only the agent but agency as a whole.
Many artist seem to be putting out their own statements on the topic, where it seems to be a good topic of discussion around the agency.
puts things in a standstill with agents in talks to walk or others talk of discussions of an exit plan or other PR strategy, Wasserman has not made a statement themselves and probably are waiting out until the weekend. Chappell roans announcement during the Super Bowl probably bought them a little time as well.

Fans look to the artist to make a statement, the agency, the agents and everything seems to be in discussion.
Critics have talked about how not to fault the staff or artists but as fans I believe their opinions should be heard. The agency and agents make money off of the ticket sales and packages of the fans.
Artists don't have to listen to the fans if they don't want.. but its great to have a conversation surrounding everything for sure.
Fans are the ones who are spending their money supporting an artists whose agent/agency gets a cut of every ticket cost.
Wasserman as a company has not made a statement. Companies choose who they have in their company and individuals have the ability to choose whether they want to be involved with a business or not. There is a separation between work and personal life but PR wise, not great....
At the end of the day, if it affects the bottom line that's all that matters. if he has more skeletons in his closet, it might be better to cut ties, but if the company sees there's a way to rectify the situation, nows a great time to start rebuilding their image with all the eyes on them.
I figure by the end of the week there will either have to be some conclusion, if not it will probably get lost in the news cycle by the weekend. but Looks like a ton of EDM artists are posting to their fans
With artists leaving, you'd have to imagine with how many agents, and talent, it just has to be a lot of annoying paperwork and a mess with contracts for shows already in motion.
For the agents/artists relationship, the connection to the agency isn't great. For example EDC, Lolla, and ACL all have a ton of Wasserman clients, will the connection hurt the festivals? will it hurt the artist more? or the agents? or assistants?
Business wise, there are other agencies for agents and for artists looking for new representation but it has to be more complex than that.
Outside of that, sports.
It looks like the Olympic Committee LA28 is backing Wasserman in all of this which is disappointing.... probably because the Olympics are happening right now and don't want any more press further involving them gearing up for the games in 2028. wonder if its too late for them to change their mind.
Wasserman does more than represent artists and work with the olympics, I'm assuming everyone is just hoping this is just water under the bridge behind the scenes.
Will people leave? I wonder if artists leaving will impact them anyways with Wassermans size. financially or PR wise, everyone probably assumes the entertainment space is an unconventional space anyways but you have to think the agency PR doesn't want the fans to actually see evidence of that...
I wonder after everything comes to a conclusion, will there be any changes enacted? or at the end of the day will this all just be a cautionary tail? I hope the industry changes for the better.
